Dennis L. Hall, age 84, of Quincy, previously of 3000 Schildt Lane, died at 8:25 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 in Good Samaritan Home. He was born on June 5, 1930 in Milton, IL, a son of Eldon & Margaret (Dennison) Hall. He married Carol Buffington on November 6, 1955 in Kingston Methodist Church. They were married for 59 years. She survives.

Dennis graduated from Quincy Senior High School Class of 1948. He was a member of Melrose Chapel Methodist Church. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Was as a radar specialist. He was a member of American Legion Post #37.

Dennis retired from J & K Creative Printing Company after 47 years of service.

Until bad health he was a volunteer at Blessing Hospitality House and Melrose Newsletter Committee. Dennis enjoyed camping. He was a member of the Holiday Rambler Trailer Club for over 12 years and served as president of the local Holiday Rambler Trailer Club for one term. He then located his trailer permanently at Bayview Camp Ground in Hannibal and enjoyed many friendships there. He also enjoyed golfing, boating, bowling on several leagues and playing cards. On his 50th wedding anniversary he took the trip he always dreamed of, a cruise to Alaska.

A special thank you to the Foose Center staff at Good Samaritan and especially Rev. James Riley. They went above and beyond to take care of not only his physical needs and his spiritual needs but also the family’s needs. Their compassion, concern and patience to the family is greatly appreciated.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his only daughter, Laura Leapley and son-in-law Dennis Leapley; a step-grandson Zach Bliven; and a step-great granddaughter Naomi Bliven, all of Quincy. He is also survived by special nieces Joni Berrettini & family and Judy Acevedot & family; nephew Jeff Jorgensen & family; brother-in-law Paul Buffington & family, all from the Chicago area. He also has cousins in Pittsfield area.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law Violet Jorgensen.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. at Sunset Cemetery of the Illinois Veterans Home with military honors by the American Legion Post #37. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in Melrose Chapel United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Ron George.
