Deborah S. “Debbie” Martin

Deborah S. Martin age 63, died on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at 5:01 p.m. in Quincy’s Blessing Hospital.
Born May 28, 1956 in Joliet, IL Debbie was a daughter of Silas E. and Faye Dean (Hilliard) Martin. She was of baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

Debbie had survived lung cancer after being diagnosed 21 years ago and had lived with Stage 4 kidney disease for five years. She was an avid walker. Debbie was a joy to know, and she never met a stranger. As the employees that worked with Debbie at Transitions said, she added to the life of everyone who knew her. She had a deep faith in God as her savior.

Debbie loved and appreciated the generosity of this community over-the-years, especially from Transitions, her doctors and nurses and her friends at Firehouse bar where she had coffee every morning for decades surrounded by her loving friends. She had a phenomenal memory, was a great listener, she was thoughtful and generous. If you knew Debbie, you probably had received many cards from her for holidays, birthdays and anniversaries.

Survivors include her two sisters, Nancy Martin of Santa Fe, TX; Ruth Bettenhausen of Washougal, WA; and a brother, Mark Martin of Goodlettsville, TN. Two nephews Zachery and Benjamin and a niece, Rachael. Her Aunt Pat Taylor and many cousins also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parent and two brothers.
Private services are planned for Debbie. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Transition of Western Illinois. Services are in care of Duker & Haugh Funeral Home, 823 Broadway Quincy, IL 62301. www.dukerandhaugh.com
