David F. Peters

David F. Peters, age 66, of 1501 Gayla Drive, died on Thursday, August 29, 2013 in his home. He was born on July 25, 1947 in Quincy the son of Willard & Alvena (Westhaus) Peters. He was a 1965 graduate of Christian Brothers High School. He married Carol Smith on January 31, 1970 in St. Mary Catholic Church. She survives.

David worked for Peters Heating and Air for more than 40 years. He was of the Catholic Faith.

He was very crafty with his hands and used them do custom and architectural metal work. Those same hands were used to prepare lots of family dinners and great desserts, as he enjoyed cooking. He was a faithful Cardinals fan.

David always looked forward to deer season, and he enjoyed the sport of deer hunting as well as fishing. He was a “farm boy” at heart and liked to drive his tractors. He was a very special “Papa” and “Grandfather” to his grandchildren and they loved him to pieces. David also loved to be a prankster and got a kick out of instigating fellow co-workers and friends. He loved to drink a beer and tell stories with those that were close to him.

David has seen a lot of the world and has traveled many miles with his wife Carol on handfuls of cruises and special vacations. Recently David bought himself a 1972 Dodge Dart and was excited about driving his “muscle car” around.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by:
FOUR CHILDREN: Chris Peters and his wife Tara of Rolla, MO; Scott Peters, Chad Peters, and Jennifer Foust and her husband Brock all of Quincy.
FOUR GRANDCHILDREN: Landon Peters, Ledger Peters, Erin Peters, and Rachel Foust. ONE SISTER: Diane Butler and her husband John of Quincy, and his beloved dog, Sophie. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of St. Peter by Msgr. Leo Enlow.
