David E. Starkey, age 82, of the Illinois Veteran’s Home, Quincy, died on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 12:10 p.m. in the home. He was born on July 12, 1932 in Shelbina, MO, a son of Leslie & Arcena (Bonnell) Starkey. He married Marylinn Birchfield on February 19, 1955. She preceded him in death on December 11, 1989. He married Geraldine Dyke on July 13, 1996. She survives.

Mr. Starkey served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a licensed minister through the Assembly of God Church. He pastored at numerous churches in the area.

In addition to his first wife Marylinn and his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Daryle Starkey and one brother.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Greenmount Cemetery by Rev. V. Lee Amsler. There is no visitation but friends are invited to the graveside services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Missions at Riverside Community Church or to the Illinois Veteran’s Home. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
