Darrell L. Guthrie
Darrell L. Guthrie age 76, of Quincy, formerly of Tioga, IL died on Wednesday, March 16, 2017 at 11:05 a.m. in Blessing Hospital. Darrell was born in Hannibal, Missouri on July 13, 1940, a son of Alvin and Vera (Nutgrass) Guthrie. He married Betty J. Roan on November 7, 1967 in the Lima Christian Church and she preceded him in death in 2005.
Darrell was a retired printer, and most recently worked at Mitchell’s Quick-Print in Quincy.
He attended Warsaw High School. Darrell honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Darrell’s hobbies included gardening, canning and recreational shooting.
His survivors are: three children, Anthony (Dawn) Guthrie of Tioga, IL; James L. Guthrie of Tioga, IL and a daughter, Nicole (Richard) Burton of Anamosa, IA. Three grandchildren, Michael, Mitchell and Nicholas Guthrie all of Belleville, IL; a sister, Pauline Dede of Loraine, IL; a sister-in-law, Bev Guthrie of Quincy and nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter Michelene Neil; a son Kevin Guthrie; a grandson, Matthew Guthrie; four brothers, Bill, Don and Junior Guthrie and Denny Guthrie in infancy; and a sister, Evelyn James.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment will be in Quincy Memorial Park with military honors. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers to the Great River Honor Flight or the Quincy Humane Society.
I am just now seeing this obituary, and unaware until now of Darrell’s passing, I missed the celebration of his life, and wish the family God’s peace and grace. I enjoyed conversations with Darrell in Tioga, and he was a good neighbor.
