Darrell Gunnell

Darrell Gunnell, age 91, of 1124 North 26th Street, Quincy, died on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 4:25 p.m. He was born on November 21, 1917 in Bethel, Missouri, a son of Arthur P. and Inez (Otten) Gunnell. He married Dorothy Steffen on December 23, 1939 in Canton, Missouri. She survives.

Darrell served in the United States Navy in the Pacific during World War II. He worked as a Machinist for Gardner Denver from 1958 until his retirement in 1982. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, football, NASCAR, and watching the birds and squirrels.

In addition to his wife Dorothy, survivors include:
TWO SONS: Ken Gunnell and his wife Barbara of Longview, TX, and Ricky Gunnell of Addison, TX;
ONE DAUGHTER: Linda Taber of Quincy;
ONE SISTER: Wilma Rife of East Bernard, TX;
EIGHT GRANDCHILDREN: Dawn Downs and her husband Randy of Murrietta, CA, Tamee Gunnell of Corona, CA, Chad Taber and his wife Michelle, Gary Taber, and Tracy Taber of Quincy, and Valerie, Kimberly, and Mathew Gunnell of Quebec City, Canada;
FOURTEEN GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN;
THREE GREAT-GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents.

Private family memorial services will be held by Pastor Terry Cain. The family requests that no floral arrangements be sent. They would appreciate memorials to Blessing Foundation for HOSPICE. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
