Danny Daugherty
Danny Daugherty, age 79, of Mendon, IL, passed away on September 9, 2024 in Blessing Hospital. He (along with his twin brother Lanny) was born on November 11, 1944, in Quincy, a son of Kenneth and Lera (Smith) Daugherty. Danny spent many years with the love of his life, Penny Maggart. She survives.
Danny was a member of the Army Reserves and worked for Moormans for 30 years until his retirement. His hobbies included gardening, hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with family. Many memories were made with his grandchildren, a favorite being from when they were little watching TV and eating popcorn in their underwear. Danny was also fond of watching hummingbirds and playing with his beloved dog, Molly, who survives.
In addition to Penny, Danny is survived by his son: Brent (Crystal) Daugherty; Step-children: David (Amanda) Maggart; Keith (Jessica) Maggart; Stephanie (Justin) McKinney; Tara (Steven) Goodwin; Grandson: Nathan (Paige) Daugherty; Step-grandchildren: Logan Baze; Cameron Maggart; Taylor Maggart; Avah Starman; Wyatt (Allison) McKinney; Walker McKinney; Madison McKinney; Caleb (Tansy) Goodwin; Carter Goodwin; and Corbin Goodwin; Twin brother: Lanny Daugherty; and great-grandchildren: Elora Daugherty; Nolan Daugherty; and Rowan Daugherty. Numerous other friends and family members also survive.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Sandra Porter and Barbara Leapley, and a son: Brian Daugherty.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. A Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the Quincy Humane Society. The Duker and Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Lanny, I’m so sorry to hear about Danny. He was sure the different kind of guy.. If you wanna talk, vent or just cry…. You can sure call me anytime. Love you still..
