Daniel Lierly

Daniel Lierly, age 98, of St. Vincent’s Home, Quincy, formerly of Liberty, IL, died on Thursday, June 18, 2015 in the home. He was born on February 24, 1917 in McKee Township, IL, a son of Jackie & Carrie (Whitaker) Lierly. He married Reta Schieferdecker on July 29, 1939 in Keokuk, IA. She preceded him in death in June, 2006.

Mr. Lierly retired from Electric Wheel after years of service as a night watchman.

He enjoyed gardening and just being outdoors. He loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by:
ONE SON, Daniel W. Lierly and his wife Norma of Quincy;
TWO DAUGHTERS, Shearon Armel and her husband Gary of Galva, IL and Georgia Vasen and her husband Jim of Quincy;
TEN GRANDCHILDREN, THIRTEEN GREAT GRANDCHILDREN and EIGHT GREAT-GREAT GRANDCHILDREN;
ONE SISTER, Mabel Preist of Pittsfield, IL;
ONE BROTHER-IN-LAW, Glenn Schieferdecker of Wyoming
ONE SISTER-IN-LAW, Florence Lierly of Barry, IL

In addition to his wife, Reta, he was preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters, one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Richfield United Methodist Church.

    so sorry to hear of your lose, he was a good man, he and Reta were friend’s to my folk, Emmett and Alice, and we were classmate Georgia, John Jackson
