Dan Bartelt, 66, of Quincy, Illinois, died on February 24, 2022 in his home. He was born in Quincy, Illinois on July 24, 1955 to Bruce G. Bartelt and Elizabeth J (Yancey) Bartelt.
Dan married Cynthia Ann Cavender (Player) Bartelt on May 20, 2017, in Quincy, IL.

In addition to his wife, Cindy, Dan is survived by his four children; Sharadan (Sam) Parks, Sera Jarvis, Daniel Bartelt, and Dana Bartelt (Tyler Allison) all of Quincy; and a step-daughter, Alaina Cavender (Keenan Daugherty) of Pueblo, Colorado and 11 grandchildren: Victor Jarvis, Kenley and Elliot Parks, Ava Schwab; Jordyn, Harper, and Damyn Allison; and Wyatt, Billy, Henry, and Josey Daugherty.

Dan is also survived by three siblings; Gary (Ruth) Bartelt, David Bartelt, and Becky Brewer all of Quincy; and a sister-in-law, Gennie (Paul) Bartelt of Saint Ann, Missouri. Other surviving family members include several nieces and nephews, as well as great nephews and a great niece.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Paul; and a brother-in-law, John (Becky) Brewer.

Dan attended Quincy Public Schools, graduating in 1973.

Dan had a passion for music and the arts, which led to managing the Forum Show Palace and a brief ownership of BeBop Records in the disco era. Dan enjoyed many years as owner and operator of Bartelt Entertainment (Mobil Music Machine and Mobil Moonwalk). Dan retired as a Certified Illinois School Bus Driver Instructor and Bus Driver for Quincy Public Schools, and most recently worked part-time driving the Quincy University shuttle bus.

Throughout his life, Dan was involved in many civic organizations including Quincy Community Little Theater where he served on the Board of Directors and performed in productions, Dogwood Board of Governors, and Board of the local Muscular Dystrophy Association chapter.

Dan and Cindy loved each other unconditionally. On cool summer evenings they enjoyed sitting on the back patio enjoying each other’s company talking, sharing stories, looking at the beautiful night sky, admiring how beautiful of a life they shared together. Dan enjoyed being outdoors, bird watching and working in his yard; presidential history, and his weekly Friday nights with the “Poker Buddies.” Dan cherished with all his heart the time he spent with Cindy, his family and friends.

A memorial service/visitation for family and friends to honor Dan will be held on March 11, 2022, Knights of Columbus McNicholas Hall (North), 700 S. 36th St., Quincy, Illinois 62301, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
