Constance “Connie” Liesen

Constance (Connie) Liesen, 87, of Quincy, died Friday, Jan. 11, at Good Samaritan Home.
Connie was born September 17, 1931, to Charles and Roberta (Farmer) Cosgrove. She was married to John A. Liesen on May 31, 1954 in St. Rose Catholic Church. He survives.

Connie worked for several years with her husband, John, at the family owned and operated grocery store, Liesen’s Market on 20th and Broadway. Following the store’s closure, she worked at WalMart as a greeter and in the garden center for 20 years.

Connie was a lifelong Catholic, being a member of St. Dominic and St. Francis Parishes respectively. She enjoyed watching sports, gardening, bingo, and having a good time. She always liked to be on the go, traveling whenever she could. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

In addition to being survived by her husband John, Connie is also survived by her two sons, John Liesen and his wife, Diane, of Naperville, IL and Mike Liesen and his wife, Ruth, of Quincy, IL ; a daughter, Sr. Debbie Liesen SSND of Baltimore , MD ; nine grandchildren, Matt (Donna) Liesen of Burbank IL, Andy (Jessi )Liesen of Camp Point, IL, Beth (Julian) Lagunas of Frankfort IL, Erin (Devon) Stegeman of Quincy, IL, Sara (Richard) Markey of Quincy, IL, Jason (Kelsey)Liesen of Naperville, IL, Adam (Des) Liesen of Naperville, IL, Caitlin (Andrew) Hawkins of Naperville,IL and Kevin (Jessica)Liesen of Aurora,IL.
Eighteen great-grandchildren along with two additional great-grandchildren that are on the way, a brother Charles (Kay) Cosgrove, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents and a sister: Catherine Schatsiek

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Catholic Church, the School Sisters of Notre Dame or to Quincy Notre Dame High School.
