CLINTON LEROY DOWNS OBITUARY

Clinton Leroy Downs, age 93, of 1707 N. 12th Street, formerly of Meyer, Illinois, died on Monday, March 3, 2008 at 3:30 p.m. in the Illinois Veteran’s Home. He was born on January 16, 1915 in Meyer, Illinois. He was a son of Roy and Beryl (Ireland) Downs. He married Alma McClelland on March 17, 1934. She died on November 9, 1987. He later married Mildred Reiter on June 1, 1989, and she survives.

Clinton served in the United States Navy during World War II. He served in the Pacific Theatre.

Mr. Downs was a commercial fisherman. He enjoyed hunting.

In addition to his wife, survivors include:
TWO DAUGHTERS: Deanne Savio and her husband Richard of Las Vegas, NV, and Jane Spriggs and her husband Jerry of West Linn, OR;
FIVE GRANDCHILDREN;
FIVE GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN;
NIECES , NEPHEWS and THREE STEP-CHILDREN also survive.

Mr. Downs was preceded in death by one brother, Howard Downs, two sisters, Nada Logal and Helen Shaffer, a son Danny Downs, and a daughter Lois Ann Downs in infancy.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2008 at 1:00 p.m.
in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home by the Rev. John Adams.
Interment will be in New Providence Cemetery in Ursa.
The Bear Creek American Legion Post #823 to conduct military honors at the graveside.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 12 noon until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
