Clara Catherine Peters, age 95, of Sunset Haven, formerly of 621 Koch’s Lane, died on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 9:25 AM in Home. She was born on August 12, 1916 in Riverside Township, IL a daughter of Henry W. and Mary Ann (Duesterhaus) Peters.

Clara attended St. John’s Catholic elementary school and Quincy Beauty Academy. Clara became a hairdresser in 1939, opened her own beauty shop in her home in 1964, and retired in 1984 after 45 years.

She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church after the closing of St. John’s Catholic church.

Clara was a member and Past President of Beta Sigma Phi service sorority, a member of the Genealogical Society, and she enjoyed playing cards and painting china.

Survivors include:
A sister-in-law Mrs. Henry M. (Rosa Lee) Peters of Quincy. Many nieces, nephews, great and great- great nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by three sisters: Agnes M. Vonderheide, Marian E. Frese, and Edna A. Peters. Five brothers: Herbert H., Lawrence W., Edmund L., Elmer H., and Henry M. Peters.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 9:30 AM in the
Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and a mass at 10:00 AM in St. Francis Catholic Church
by Rev. Don Blaeser, O.F.M. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a parish prayer service at 5:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Catholic Church or to the Haven at Sunset Home. www.dukerandhaugh.com
