Claire E. Fischer

Claire E. Fischer, age 85, of 2368 North 800th Ave, Liberty, IL died on Saturday, March 23, 2013 in Blessing Hospital. She was born on July 10, 1927 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Fred & Pearl Law. She married Floyd O. Fischer on November 30, 1946 in Oak Park, IL. He preceded her in death on March 9, 2006.

Mrs. Fischer was a Medical Technologist for Blessing Hospital and the Quincy Medical Group throughout the years. She graduated from Oak Park High School and Carthage College. She was a member of the Liberty Christian Church.

Along with her husband, Claire enjoyed traveling. She was also an avid gardener. However, her greatest enjoyment was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attending their various activities.

She is survived by:
TWO DAUGHTERS: Nona Steffen and her husband Ron of Minneapolis, MN and Holly Knuffman and her husband Rick of Streator, IL
SON-IN-LAW: Norman Still
TEN GRANDCHILDREN: David Still and his wife Laura; Mark Still and his wife Missy; Stacy Duke and her husband Jason; Monica Kiley; Ron Steffen and his wife Robynn; Nathan Knuffman and his wife Hallie; Erin Knuffman; Ryan Knuffman and his wife Mandy; Joe Knuffman and his wife Jenna; and Luke Knuffman.
22 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN also survive.

In addition to her husband, Claire was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters: Marilyn Still and Paula Knuffman and a son-in-law: Joe Knuffman.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Liberty Christian Church. Interment in Pleasant View Cemetery, Liberty. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy. Memorials may be made to the Pleasant View Cemetery Association.

    Nona don’t know if you will remember me, we went to beauty school together. So sorry to hear of your mother death just have comfort that she is with our heavenly father.

    You have my condolences on Claire’s passing. I worked with Claire at the old P&S Clinic from 1982-1988. She was there for me, fresh from college, starting a family, and growing up. She will always have a special place in my heart!
