Charles W. McCallister
Charles W. McCallister, age 62, of 2217 S. 12th Street, Quincy, died on Monday, March 10, 2008 in Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born on August 12, 1945 in Payson, Illinois. He was a son of Harry & Ruth (Ralston) McCallister. He married Karen Maas on April 28, 1973, and she survives.
Everybody liked “Charlie Mac”. He was a maintenance supervisor for Trinity Containers where he was employed for 40 years. He was a talented handyman who could fix anything. Charlie was a coin collector and he enjoyed gardening, his 8N tractor, and his Cadillac.
He was a veteran of the United States Army.
In addition to his wife, survivors include:
ONE DAUGHTER: Mindy McCallister of Quincy;
THREE SISTERS: Louise Leonard, Rose Harris, & Dorothy Biles.
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Elmer Lester, Leslie, Lyndle, Donald, & Everett McCallister.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home by Monsignor Michael Kuse. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Blessing Cancer Center or Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church
I was a classmate at Lewistown School. I am sincerely sorry to hear about Charles’ death.
