Charles “Sonny” F. Clarkson, Jr.

Charles “Sonny” F. Clarkson, Jr. age 71, of 3524 North 5th Street Quincy died on Saturday, July 27, 2013 in his home. Sonny was born March 3, 1942 in Quincy, a son of Charles F. and Sylvia (Woods) Clarkson, Sr. He married Irene Schulte on July 6, 1963 and together they had their four sons.

Sonny had previously worked at Motorola, at Baldwin Field for the City of Quincy and he had most recently tended bar at local establishments.

He was of the Baptist faith. Sonny enjoyed playing Cribbage, he was witty and was well-loved by his friends and family.

Survivors include his sons: Charles F. Clarkson, III; Craig (Shana) Clarkson and Chad Clarkson all of Quincy; and Curtis Clarkson of Leicester, NC. Two sisters, Sharon (Donald) Brassel of Las Vegas, NV and Sylvia Clarkson of Quincy; grandchildren, Ronnie Gordon, Ricky Francis, Britney Vural; Austin Courtois, Timothy Clarkson, Shane Clarkson, Stephen Metz; Curtis Clarkson, Jr.; Haley, Meghan and Abigail Clarkson and one great grandchild, Caden Vural.
His special friend, Kathy Ellis of Quincy; and many nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Dorothy Akers.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in Quincy Memorial Park, conducted by Chris LeFever. There is no visitation, but family and friends are invited to the graveside services. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or to Blessing Cancer Center.

    Sonny was always my favorite…always funny and someone that had integrity and a great love of his family. He especially loved his sons. I regret not taking the time to give him a call in recent years.
