Charles Scheufele

Charles Scheufele, age 92, of 907 Hillside Court, Quincy, died on Saturday, April 2, 2016 in his home. He was born on May 29, 1923 in Quincy the son of James Carl and Stella (Schulte) Scheufele. He married Mary Mirande on January 5, 1947 in Ilasco, MO. She preceded him in death on October 14, 2013.

Charles worked in the Electronic Industry for 26 years at Motorola and then for 12 years at Harris Broadcast until this retirement. Charles served in the United States Army Air Corps as an MP during WWII. Charles enjoyed camping and fishing. He loved electronics and even at his age greatly enjoyed the modern social medias such as Facebook. He was previously a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and spent the last several years as a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Spending time with his family was very important and he was proud to be called “Nono” to 17 great-grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Judy Young, and her husband Michael of Quincy, a daughter Nancy Goehl of Lewistown, MO, and a son, Gary Scheufele and his wife Ruth of Cedar Rapids, IA; eight grandchildren, Tara (George) Vranas of Oak Lawn, IL, Angela (Joseph) Radkins of Quincy, Todd Young of Chicago, IL, Christine (Rick) Duvendack of Canton, IL, Dan (Rachel) Goehl of LaGrange, MO, Kathy (Scott) Wisehart of Ewing, MO, Jennifer (Steve) Hill of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Jaclyn Scheufele along with her fiancé Brad Quimby of Hickman, NE; as well as 17 great grandchildren-John, Caroline, and Michael Vranas, Brett, Emily, and Gavin Radkins, Jacquelyn, Andrea, Adam, and Brian Duvendack, Robert and Ellie Goehl, Nicholas and Andrew Wisehart, Zachary, Alex, and William Hill.

Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

In addition to his wife, Charles was also preceded in death by: a son-in-law: Robert L. Goehl, 2 brothers: Robert Scheufele, Richard Scheufele and one sister: Mary Ellen Gordon.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 10:30 in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM and at St. Francis Catholic Church on Wednesday from 10:00 until the time of the services. Memorials may be made to Blessing Hospital Radiation Therapy Fund or the St. Francis Parish Center. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    We are so sorry to hear of your loss. Uncle Charles was a great man. We really enjoyed our visits with him.
