CHARLES BARNES OBITUARY

Charles Barnes, age 70, of 836 South 7th Street, died on Friday, September 12, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in his home. He was born on July 10, 1938 in Meyer, Illinois. He was a son of Llewellyn F. Barnes & Emma Arnold and step-father Ross Innes. He first married Shirley Miller of Quincy and she survives. He later married Lisa Smith on March 19, 2004 in Quincy, Illinois and she survives.

Charles was a machinist at Knapheide Manufacturing Company for 31 years before his retirement. He was also the owner of Charlie’s and Lisa’s Tavern.

He liked to fish, play pool, & cards.

In addition to his wife, Lisa, survivors include his children by his first wife:
TWO SONS: Chuck Barnes, Jr. & his wife Marsha of Quincy, and Mike Barnes & his wife Deanna of Ursa; ONE DAUGHTER: Charlotte Owsley of Quincy;
A STEP-DAUGHTER: Angela Cramsey and her husband Greg of Quincy;
BROTHER: Allen Lewis Barnes & his wife Norma of Quincy;
FOUR SISTERS: Wanda Sparrow of Liberty, Joe Ann Brown of Coatsburg, Bonnie Mathes and her husband Jim of Quincy, & Nancy Hultze and her husband Mike of Quincy;
FIFTEEN GRANDCHILDREN;
NINE GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN;
Several nieces & nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sons Ricky D. Barnes, Daron E. Barnes, & Steffan J. Barnes, one sister, Marjorie F. Zinn, a brother Gary Barnes, two grandchildren Vanessa Barnes & Shawn P. Barnes.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home by Rev. Terry Cain. Interment will be in Mendon Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday evening from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
