Charlene M. Marcks

On October 15th, 2015 Charlene M. Marcks, age 83, passed away at Memorial Hospital in Carthage, IL. She went home to be with Jesus, her parents and brother whom she missed very much. She was born January 3, 1932 in Quincy, IL, to Charles & Helen (Ridder) Marcks. She resided at Montebello Health Center Nursing Home in Hamilton, IL until the time of her illness.

Charlene loved her family, Christmas, kittens and cats and to collect anything and everything that referred to them. She enjoyed playing bingo, especially when she won, and visits from family and friends.

Charlene is survived by a sister-in-law, Darlene Marcks, six nieces and two nephews, Terry (Alan) Blickhan, Becky (Kevin) Holbrook, Debbie Orebaugh, Peggy Maggart, David (Peggy) Marcks and Robert Marcks; seventeen great-nieces and nephews; fifteen great-great-nieces and nephews and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Merwin R. Marcks, a nephew, Billie K. Maggart, several cousins and her fiance, Virgil Cassidy.

The family would like to express deep gratitude and a heartfelt thank you to Montebello Health Center and Memorial Hospital for her care.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Boniface Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Montebello Health Center in Hamilton, IL or to the Quincy Humane Society.

    I remember Charlene all the way back to when Jerry & I were dating. What I remember most is her large sack of gifts from “Santa”. May she rest in peace.

    Sorry to hear about Charlene. I always enjoyed visiting with her next door to Grandma and Grandpa’s house!!!
