Charlene “Char” Dumford Morris
Charlene ‘Char’ Dumford Morris, age 92, of Quincy, passed away at her home and went to be with her husband Robert on the morning of November 9, 2021. She was born on August 24, 1929 in Quincy, IL the daughter of Harry & Anna (Huckstep) Dumford. She married Robert Charles Morris on August 5, 1950 in St. Francis Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on July 23, 2013.
Char was a 1947 graduate of Quincy Senior High School and worked at Moorman Manufacturing prior to the birth of her children. Over the years, her and her husband Bob volunteered with multiple organizations in town, including St. John the Baptist School where she was inducted in 1985 into the sports hall of fame. They also volunteered at the CYO where she served as an interim director, Quincy Notre Dame, and the QU Mart Heinen Club. In 1989 she was named worker of the year for the Mart Heinen Club and was also an inductee in to the Quincy University Sports Hall of Fame. Char was also an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.

SEVEN CHILDREN: Pamela Paden, Gregory (Pam) Morris, Kenneth (Terri) Morris, Jeffery (Lori) Morris, Denise (Jerry) Blackledge, Roger (Amy) Morris and Kimberly (Tad) Nixon.
19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law: Margaret Andrews and Rose (Tom) Gott; one brother-in-law: Jim Morris. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
In addition to her husband, Char was also preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law: Steve Paden, her siblings: Geneva (Norman) Ator, Dorothy (Eugene) Milliron, Harry (Dorothy) Dumford; in-laws: Earl (Dorothy) Morris; Paul (Sherry) Morris; Sue Morris and Daniel Andrews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 12 from 10:00 AM until the time of the services at 11:00. Memorials may be made to Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
We love you, Aunt Char, and will always remember your laughter and teasing — welcoming each of us with a big smile and an open heart. Peace to my cousins and their families.

I am very sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. I always enjoyed volunteering with her at St. John’s and Notre Dame. She was a great lady. You are all in my prayers.
So sorry for your earthly loss. A lot of wonderful memories growing up with our 9th street gang. Charlene was always kind to me.
