Chad E. Payne
Chad Eric Payne, “Kornbread” died on Friday, August 18, 2023 in LaGrange, MO. He was born on June 13, 1975 in Quincy the son of Cephus Payne and Tammy Reed Nichols.
Chad attended QHS where he became a young parent to his first born. He was the rough and tough ask questions later but full of love and always wanting to do things outside. He worked for CG McPike and was a particularly good backyard mechanic, and construction worker and recently earned his plumbing degree.
Chad loved motors, fishing, and his lady friends. He loved being outdoors and spending time with his family especially his one and only grandson, Kaiden.
Survivors include two children: Harlie Marie Payne of Quincy and a son Cody Allen Payne of Kahoka, MO, his only grandson Kaiden Virden of Quincy; his parents and a sister Brandy K. Mefford; two father figures that can not be forgotten and that was John Kindhart and John Hardy both of Quincy; maternal grandmother Patsy Deming; nieces and nephews, Lexi, Evan and Erian Payne of Quincy, Gage Lummer (Kiley) Sadie Mefford; many stepsisters and brothers, Jodi, Katie, Alex, Brianna, Nick, Jaxen, Jami, Mariah and Ryan; many aunts, uncles and friends that were family.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Derek Payne, Cory Payne and Mark Payne, a son and a grandson Felix J. Payne-Smith, his paternal grandparents, Dan and Julie Payne and an incredibly special uncle Mikey Coffman who was like a brother to him.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 12:00 Noon at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. There will be a bike procession to Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.
To our first born…our hearts are breaking. but i am sooo grateful that i brought you into this world… love you n imma tellin ya its your job to watch out for your baby brothers. youre all together again.

Pinky, Brandy and Patsy just know our hearts are with you all and love you. We can’t make it to the funeral today. Bill is using my spare oxygen and that leaves me with none. In case I need it. We will be sending money to funeral home unless you need it. Let us know. Please be careful.
