Catherine Knuffman
Catherine Knuffman, age 90, formerly of Liberty, died on Monday, November 2, 2009 at North Adams Home in Mendon.
Catherine was born on April 25, 1919 in Quincy, a daughter of Joseph and Helen (Bauman) Zanger. She married Lawrence Knufffman on April 19, 1941 in St. Brigid Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on January 3, 1999.
Catherine was a homemaker who enjoyed quilting, embroidery and gardening. She was a wonderful cook, who loved family get-togethers and spending time with her grandchildren. Catherine was a devout Catholic and a beloved mother and grandmother.
She was a member of St. Brigid Catholic Church and a member and past-president of the Ladies Altar and Rosary Society.
Survivors include her children, Marilyn (Bernie) Heberlein; Donna (Dave) Goehl and Richard (Lois) Knuffman all of Liberty;
Three sisters: Mildred Tournear, Carlene Crawford, Rita (Jess) Mowen all of Liberty; a sister-in-law, Mary Florence Schmidt of Hannibal, MO; a daughter-in-law Jessie Knuffman;
17 Grandchildren: Vickie (Leo) Haley; Dan (Anita) Heberlein; Terry (Connie) Heberlein; John (Denise) Heberlein; Joe (Stacey) Heberlein; Bob (Cheryl) Knuffman; Tammy (Karl) Carman; Todd (Missy) Wemhoener; Chris (Kent) Vonderheide; Becky Knuffman; Kim (Dave) Goodwin; Mike (Renea) Kurfman; Bryan (Lisa) Knuffman; Daran (Krista) Knuffman; Tara Powell; Kara Knuffman and Josh Knuffman.
30 Great-Grandchildren, 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren and one on the way.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Kenneth Knuffman, a brother, Richard (Irma) Zanger; a sister Marilyn Zanger in infancy; a great-grandson, Cooper Heberlein; brothers-in-law, Walter Tournear, Bill Crawford and Eugene Schmidt.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 6, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home, Quincy with a funeral mass at 11:30 a.m. in St. Brigid Catholic Church, Liberty. Rev. Jeff Stone to conduct services. Interment will be in St. Brigid Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with a rosary at 6:30 p.m.

Catherine was always a sweet plenty woman when I would meet her while visiting Mom, Agnes in the nursing home. The family and people will miss her at the home. My prayers are with the family and her friends.
