Catharine Gillespie Obituary

Catharine Gillespie age 94, of Granite City, IL formerly of Quincy died on Monday, March 31, 2008at 4:30 p.m. in her home. Catharine was born September 16, 1913 in Brazil, IN a daughter of Arthur W. and Lillian (O’Reilly) Jones. She married Charles G. Gillespie on October 12, 1943 in Quincy, he preceded her in death on July 21, 1997.

Catharine worked for many years at the former State Street Store prior to her retirement.

She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish.
Catharine was a member of the Ladies of Charity, The Rosary and Altar Society, the Sacred Heart League and a former member of the St. Mary’s Quilting Club.

Survivors include her three daughters, Mary Brower and her husband Steve of Gray, ME;
Angela Lesnett and her husband Fred of Arlington, VA and
Christine Bohne and her husband Edward D. of Alton, IL;
Nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and nieces also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter Anne, in infancy and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 4, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church by the Monsignor Michael Kuse. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a parish prayer service at 4:00 p.m.
Memorials have been suggested to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
