Carolyn Ann Schuering

Carolyn Ann Schuering age 86, of Quincy died on Sunday, March 28, 2021 in Blessing Hospital. Carolyn was born in Quincy on October 21, 1934, a daughter of Jerry and Helen (Boehl) Belker.

She married Edward “Ed” G. Schuering on May 4, 1957 in Quincy’s St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church and he survives. She graduated from Notre Dame High School and St. Mary School of Nursing.

Carolyn was a Registered Nurse and began her career in the Maternity Unit at the former St. Mary Hospital. She went on to work at Quincy Clinic and then Q.P.S. until her retirement. After retiring, Carolyn was regularly called upon by friends and family who needed her nursing expertise.

She was a member of the Church of St. Peter where she was very active in church activities and was instrumental in organizing the Tuesday Novena. Carolyn’s family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her priority. She loved playing cards and enjoyed her time with her Bridge clubs.

In addition to her husband Ed, survivors also include her sons, Michael Schuering of Blue Springs, MO; Jim Schuering and his wife Karen and Dave Schuering and his wife Lisa all of St. Louis, MO.

Grandchildren, Lyndsay Schuering and her husband Victor Recalde; Alex Schuering, Annie Schuering, Steven Schuering, Kelly Schuering, Kate Schuering, Will Schuering, Nate Schuering, Jessica Elwell and her husband Drew, and Maggie Henke. Two great-grandchildren, Quinn and Reid Elwell;

A sister, Sandy Happ and her husband Mike of Columbia, MO; a brother-in-law Don Schuering of Quincy; and a sister-in-law Madelyn O’Brien of Edina, MO. Nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Laura (Schuering)Henke and daughter-in-law Becky Schuering.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of St. Peter officiated by Monsignor Leo Enlow. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is Monday, April 5, 2021 at the Church of St. Peter from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Ed and Carolyn Schuering Scholarship at Quincy Notre Dame or to the Church of St. Peter.

    Oh, Ed! I am so sorry to hear of Carolyn’s death! She was a dear friend and bridge club member. I always thought the world and all of Carolyn and respected her expertise in nursing.

    Mrs. Schuering was one in a million! She made all of her childrens’ friends feel loved like a part of the very special Schuering family.
    So many wonderful memories growing up with Laura.
