Carol “Cookie” Viar Ames

Carol “Cookie” Viar Ames, age 71, of 1400 North 12th in Quincy, died on March 1, 2018 in the Good Samaritan Home. She was born on November 18, 1946 in Quincy, IL the daughter of Robert and Joye (Heberlein) Viar. Carol was a 1964 graduate of Quincy High School. She worked for 37 years at Blessing Hospital in the Print Shop.

Carol was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, she was a past president of the Demolay Mothers Club and the former vice-president of operations and volunteer for the Quincy Hospitality House. She is a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 640 in Liberty and RSVP in Quincy.

Carol loved her dog, “Dolly’.

Carol is survived by:
A SON: Rob Parsons and his significant other: Melony Rosenburg
TWO GRANDCHILDREN: Brittany Parsons-Roberts and her husband Jason and Pyper Zimmerman.
TWO GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Gavin Roberts and Tanner Roberts.
OTHER SPECIAL KIDS SHE CONSIDERED HER GRANDCHILDREN: McKayla Rosenburg and Madison Rosenburg.
Other relatives and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 5, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Xander Cemetery in Liberty. Visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 until 6:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Hospitality House or to the Unity Point Hospice.
