Carmoleata Clarke
Carmoleata Clarke, age 94, of Quincy, died on January 11, 2018 in Blessing Hospital. She was born on July 21, 1923 in Missouri the daughter of Roscoe and Edna (Lovelace) Brown. She married Eugene Clarence ‘Dutch’ Clarke on June 28, 1945 in Hannibal, MO. He preceded her in death on August 4, 2013.
Carmoleata dedicated her life to raising her family. She was known as an excellent cook and her home was often the center of all activity. Eventually, she used her cooking skills in the kitchen at St. Vincent Home. She took great enjoyment watching her grandchildren grow, and especially loved family trips to Florida. She loved animals, especially her cat, ‘Bebe’, and she enjoyed having a beer at her camp, “Jeeters” and on her private, “Asphalt Beach”. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.
Carmoleata is survived by six children: Deborah Ann Kempf (Bryan Bruns) of Quincy, David Clarke of La Manzanilla, Mexico, Daniel Clarke (Ann) of Seattle, WA, Eugene Clarke Jr. (Marcia) of Quincy, Thomas Clarke of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Kimberly Clarke Maisch (Todd) of Springfield, IL
Other survivors include 5 grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 6 step great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Clarke was also preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Clarke and her parents.
A Celebration of her life will take place on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at the Twin Oaks Club. A private interment will take place at a later date in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Quincy Humane Society or to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

So sorry about the passing of Carm. She certainly was a special lady. Always with a smile on her face. Memories go way back when we were all kids and enjoying the river camps and South Side Boat Club. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
Clarke family, we were saddened to hear of your families loss. We met Carmoleata and Dutch many years ago at the Silver Moon. We shared many enjoyable times there, the SSBC & the Twin Oaks Club over the years. We know the thoughts and prayer of many are with you.
