CARLTON ROBERT WARD OBITUARY

Carlton Robert Ward, age 86, of 15125 West Pleasant Street, Knoxville, Iowa, died on Monday, September 8, 2008 at 7:50 a.m. in Knoxville V.A. Medical Center in Iowa. He was born on July 26, 1922 in Lewistown, Missouri. He was a son of William Henry Ward & Annie Elizabeth (Homrighausen) Ward. He married Wilma Elizabeth Terwelp on September 25, 1952.

She preceded him in death on August 20, 1968.

He was of the Catholic faith.

Carlton was a graduate of Quincy High School & Gem City Business School. He served in the United States Navy from June, 1943 – April, 1946. He worked on the Santa Fe Rail Road from 1946-1948. He was owner & operator of Broadway Fuel in Quincy from 1950 – 1970. He also worked at Colt Industries in Quincy from 1974 – 1976 & Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa from 1981-1993.

He was a member of the Quincy Jaycees.

Survivors include:

TWO SONS: Robert J. Ward and his wife Janet of Center Point, IA & Richard W. Ward and his wife Rita of Plano, TX;

TWO DAUGHTERS: Alex H. Stefan of El Paso, TX & Mary C. Clements and her husband Dennis of Blue Springs, MO;

ONE BROTHER: William Ray Ward of Quincy;

FOUR GRANDCHILDREN

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother, Francis Raymond Ward, and sisters, Annie Mabel Abbott, Viola G. Talley, Catherine Smith, & Wilma D. HagerLa.

PRIVATE Funeral services were held on Friday, Sept. 12, 2008. Interment with military honors conducted by American Legion Post #37 was in Calvary Cemetery in Quincy, Illinois. Arrangements were handled by the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. www.dukerandhaugh.com
