Carl A. Middendorf
Carl A. Middendorf age 90, of Quincy died on August 17, 2022 in Blessing Hospital.
Carl was born in Quincy on February 15, 1932, a son of Frank A. and Leona (Myer) Middendorf.
He married Rita K. Keyes on July 2, 1955, in Bremerhaven, Germany in the Burger Park Chapel.
They were married for over 61 years until Rita’s death on January 20, 2017.
Carl was the second-generation owner and operator of the family business, Mids Lumber Company until his retirement in 1985.
He attended the Army and Military High School and was a graduate of Quincy College.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army in October of 1954 and was honorably discharged in September of 1956.
Carl was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish.
He enjoyed boating, spending time with his family at their camp on the East Shute, and the many family vacations at the Lake of the Ozarks.
Survivors include:
3 children, Eric (Sandy Collins) Middendorf of Evansville, IN; Curt (Angela) Middendorf of Camdenton, MO and Marti (Fred, III) Kientzle of Quincy.
Grandchildren, Erika (Zedic) Birchler; Brittany Middendorf; Derek (April) Midddendorf, Mitchell (Mary) Middendorf, Curt Middendorf and Leah (Jacob) Grisham;
Fred Henry “Freddie” (Emily) Kientzle, IV; Brandon (Trianna) Kientzle; Parker and Faith Kientzle.
Great-Grandchildren, Hank Kientzle, V, Barrett Kientzle, River Rose Kientzle, Rome Kientzle, Beau Kientzle; Delany and Joy Middendorf;
Jace Grisham; Benji and Vincent Middendorf. Two step-great grandchildren, William and Zoe Birchler and a nephew, Max (Brenda) Middendorf of Pittsfield, IL also survives.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother Richard Middendorf and his wife Mary Ann and a sister, Arlene Middendorf.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 19, 2022, at 2:30 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Parish.
Visitation will be Friday at Blessed Sacrament from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m. Entombment will follow at the Mausoleum at Quincy Memorial Park with military honors.
Service arrangements are with Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Blessing Foundation for Hospice or to Blessed Sacrament School.
