Bruce Prindle
Bruce Prindle, age 81, of Quincy, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 20, 2021, in his home. He was born on November 29, 1939, in Quincy, the son of Paul and Rosetta (Niewohner) Prindle. Bruce married Mary Margaret Sullivan on September 30, 1961, in the former St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on April 12, 2018.
After graduation from Christian Brothers/Quincy Notre Dame High School, Bruce served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1961-1967. He was a Plumber in the Plumber and Pipefitters Local #161, where he served as business manager of the Union. From 1974-1976, he was the Secretary Treasurer of Local 161. From 1977-2000 Bruce was the Business Agent for Plumbers & Pipefitters Local #25.
Active in community affairs, Bruce served on the Quincy School Board for 13 years, he was Board President for 2 years. He was a member of the Quincy Area Vocational Education Training Center Citizen’s Advisory Board, a member of the Executive Board of the Quincy Trades and Labor Assembly. He served as President of the Volunteer Action Center Board, and he was formerly a member of the Quincy Planning Commission.
He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. As a former member of St. Dominic Church, he served as a trustee, and was member and vice-president of the School’s P.T.A. Bruce lived a humble and simple life, he enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, going-out-to eat and trips to “The Boat”.
Bruce is survived by his children: Lisa Garrison and her husband Rick of Hamilton, IL; David Prindle and his wife Erika of Quincy; A sister-in-law, Norma Dieker of Champaign, IL; a brother-in-law Dan Sullivan and his wife Edie of Joplin, MO.
Grandchildren Kristi Wells and her husband Daniel of Quincy; Alec Prindle and his wife Kaitlin of Quincy; Tyler Hills and his wife Daryl Anna of Warsaw; Wyatt Prindle of Quincy. Great Grandchildren: Karli, Easton, Taylor and Austin Wells, Rhylan and Adalynn Prindle all of Quincy.
Cousins, Lynn Niewohner, Billy Joe (Jeri) Niewohner; Terry (Barb) Niewohner; Ann (Jim) Ohnemus; Kristin Niewohner Powell; Sandy (Lowell) Potvin; Bob (Erin) Price; Joy (James) Kacena; Penny (William) Sredl; Jerry (Leslie) Price; Brian (Peggy) Price; several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his Aunt Alma Olker who helped raise him, two uncles William Niewohner, Jr. and Virgil Niewohner; his Aunt Leona Price and cousins, Ronald Olker, Yvonne Lohman, Vivian Wottman and Shirley Mendell
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021 at 9:15 a.m. in Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Rev. Tom Donovan will be officiating. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday evening from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. in Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. First of all Cinda and I are very, very sorry we could not be with you today celebrating Bruce/Dad/Grandpa! He was a wonderful, wonderful person. I worked with him when I was a State Representative. He was always plugging for his union and other unions, the Quincy region and students/children! He was a blessing for QPS, his Members and I know for his Family! God bless all of you! Remembering Bruce from many years ago when we were young and worked at Mercantile Trust & Savings Bank in Quincy.
Bruce always had a smile on his face. May the angels lead him into paradise.

So sorry to hear about Uncle Bruce. He was a kind and loving man and will be missed by many. He was my Godfather and always made me feel special when I would see him. Rest In Peace!
