Brian D. Reis

Brian D. Reis, age 47, of Quincy, passed away to his heavenly home with his parents by his side on Sunday, November 7, 2021, in Blessing Hospital. He was born on May 31, 1974, in Quincy, the son of David and Ann C. (Messick) Reis.

Brian was a proud 1994 graduate of St. Peter E.M.H. School where he made lifelong friends and had wonderful teachers. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.

In his younger years he participated in the Special Olympics. He had attended Transitions CRC Workshop.

Brian’s life was about family, friends, and fun. He was very social and often mischievous. If he liked you, he gave you a nickname, and if he really liked you, he would call you “McFly”. Brian loved music and movies from the 80’s.

He liked attending dances, swimming, and playing Dominos. He insisted that when playing Dominos with three people, that everyone went by one of the 3 Stooges names. His Mom, Ann was Curly and Grandma Dorothy was Larry. Brian was always Moe and Moe always won. He loved being behind the wheel of his golf carts, named Rum Rum, and later Rum Rum 2.

He loved animals, especially Rudi, the family’s chihuahua, who lived to be 19 years old. The family vacations to Hilton Head and Branson were a highlight of his life.

He was very close to his Grandma Dorothy and Grandpa Wayne and Aunt Sue.

He adored his brother Chris, the boys, (his four cousins) and his aunt Helen who would play baseball with him. He had friends in both Pastor Vernon Lee Amsler and Fr. Roy Bauer, many other friends and special friends that were important to him.

Brian is survived by his parents Ann and David, a brother, Chris (Janeane) Reis of Quincy; nieces: Alexandra and Caroline Reis.
Aunts and uncles: Sue (“Gus”) Gray of Durham, NC, Ann (Steve) Wheeler, Joyce (Kevin) Frericks, Pat (Ron) Doyle, and Chris (Kelly) of Arizona. Many cousins and other relatives also survive.

He was preceded by in death by his maternal grandparents, Dorothy and Wayne Messick, paternal grandparents, Evelyn and Lawrence Reis and great aunt Helen Rose Brink.

A special thank you is extended to his regular doctors, the team at Blessing Hospital Emergency Room, who were great this past Friday, and to the Blessing Hospice nurses who took such good care of him.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. in Duker and Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Peter Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church. Due to Covid concerns, the family respectfully asks that everyone wear a face mask.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Peter School Fund, St. Peter Catholic Church or Quincy Notre Dame.
