Brett Allen Miller
Brett Allen Miller, age 34, of Quincy, died on May 26, 2017, in his home surrounded by his family and loved ones. Brett was born October 3, 1982, in St. Mary Hospital, Galesburg, IL a son of Randall Allen and Debra Lea (Heubner) Miller.
He married Lydia Rose Keck on June 7, 2008 in Quincy’s St. Peter Catholic Church; she survives.
Brett was the Athletic Director and Spanish Teacher at Liberty High School, where he had worked since 2005. He had managed Wavering Pool for 15 years as well.
He was a graduate of St. Peter Grade School, a 2001 graduate of Quincy Notre Dame High School and a 2005 graduate of Millikin University with a degree in Spanish Education. Brett went on to earn his Master’s degree in Education Administration from William Woods University.
Brett was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. He was passionate about all things Cardinals baseball. He loved being a part of his children’s activities. He also enjoyed playing slow pitch softball and following all kinds of Liberty and QND athletics. He was also a member of St. Peter Church and the men’s prayer group.
In addition to his wife Lydia, survivors also include their children, Malena Rose Miller and Brantley Allen Miller; his parents, Randy & Debbie Miller of Quincy; his brother, Dustin (Alison) Miller, and sister, Lindsay (Pete) Bond, all of Quincy;
his maternal grandparents, Jadeen Hall of Camp Point and Floyd Heubner of Quincy; his paternal grandmother, Lucille Miller of Quincy; his mother and father in-law, Dave and Becky Keck of Quincy; brothers and sisters-in-law, Laura (William Koch) Keck of Palmyra, MO; Rachael (Bill) Powell of New Haven, CT; and Kelli (Nathan) Lunt of Quincy. Numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Russell Miller and maternal grandfather, Jim Hall.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at 9:45 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter Church by Monsignor Leo Enlow.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation hours will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at St. Peter Church.
Memorials are suggested to the Liberty Education Foundation, Quincy Notre Dame Foundation-Brett Miller Scholarship, St. Peter Grade School, or the Blessing Hospital Cancer Center.
The family will be forever grateful for all-of the prayers, love and support that have been provided over the years along Brett’s journey.

Lydia, I am praying for you and yours for strength and courage to walk through this valley. I will forever be inspired by Brett’s positive outlook, hope, faith and willingness to encourage others as I followed his Caring Bridges posts. I’m so sorry for this tremendous loss.
