Bobette Suzanne ‘Bobbi’ Wellman
Bobette Suzanne ‘Bobbi’ Wellman, age 69, of 2633 North 16th, Quincy, died on Sunday, November 18, 2018 in Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She was born on June 7, 1949 in Quincy, IL the daughter of Robert & Mary Elaine (Hoffman) Martin. She married Gary Edward Wellman on February 21, 1970 in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Quincy. He survives.
Bobbi was an active and devoted member of St. Francis Catholic Church. She served as an Eucharistic minister, a lector and helped do Blood Pressure Screenings.
Bobbi had a long career in nursing. She was nurse’s aide at St. Vincent Home and then attended the Jewish Hospital Nursing School, graduating in 1970. She then worked for the former St. Mary Hospital and Blessing Hospital, retiring after 45 years of service.
Bobbi enjoyed writing in her journal. She was a volunteer and a successful chairperson for the Relay for Life. She was also volunteer for Reach to Recovery.
In addition to her husband, she is also survived by:
TWO CHILDREN: Gary Dean Wellman and his wife Melissa of St. Charles, MO; and Tamara S. Wellman and her significant other Kevis Nutt of Quincy.
FIVE GRANDCHILDREN: Cassie McMillen and her husband Mitchell; Toni Wellman and her fiancé Trey Michler; Brandi Bobette Wellman and her fiancé Brock Hankins; Zackary Wellman and Tyler Wellman.
TWO GREAT GRANDCHILDREN: Declan and Elaine McMillen.
TWO SISTERS: Cheri Greving and her husband Dennis and Janet Powell and her husband Edward.
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
She was preceded in death by her father and a grandson Garrett Michael Wellman.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 9:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Cancer Center. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Remembering Bobbi with much love and fondness. She was a lovely lady. She will be deeply misssd by so many. Prayers for Gary and the family.
Bobbie was devoted to supporting women on their recovery journey from breast cancer . Her impact as a nurse remains in the hearts of those she has touched .

I am so sorry for your loss as I know how special Bobbi was to me and all of her friends that she was that magnified by a million to her family that she loved deeply. Even though I didn’t see Bobbi often, when I did, it was as if there was no time between our last visit. Bobbi was such a ray of sunshine to everyone! She made a monumental effort in September when I was in town to make sure that we connected.
And now, that time together will always be in my heart. I will remember our hug forever!

I went to high school with Bobbi and she was a wonderfully warm woman and always kind as well as fun loving. I’ll keep her and all her family in my prayers. I’m so sorry for your loss of this genuinely wonderful woman.
I’m so sorry for your and our loss. Bobbie sue was such a kind individual and will be dearly missed. I only knew her by blood and the to few times I got to meet with her for family get togethers, at the hospital when she was working, or just a lucky run in at a store, etc. but found her to be extremely polite and caring and am gonna miss her for just that.
So very sorry. She was such an inspiration to me when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Such an amazing lady.
Our deepest sympathy to you Gary, your family and to all who loved and will deeply miss this amazing woman. Words cannot express the sorrow both Dusti and I are feeling with the loss of Bobbie. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. May her beautiful soul find peace in heaven.
I am so sorry for your lost. I will really miss all our talks. You helped me when nobody else could. You were always there for me and I couldn’t be there for you. We never did get to have that coffee. Maybe when I join you we can have it then. I will always love and miss you cuz. Tammie if your family needs anything please don’t hesitate to call me.
I have so many wonderful memories of working together with Bobbi and our patients. Bobbi was a compassionate nurse and human being, especially with cancer survivors. She has a special place in Heaven now. She will be missed by so many.

Bobbi had compassion for everyone. An excellent nurse who I had the privilege to work with. Truly over by anyone who met her. Love and heartfelt sympathy to the family especially my Sis, Tammie.
