Blake Genenbacher
Blake James Genenbacher age 21, of 2434 South 36th Street Quincy died on Monday, August 26, 2013 at 3:33 a.m. in his home. Blake was born February 19, 1992 in Quincy, the son of Tim Genenbacher and Chris (Heuer) Genenbacher. He was engaged to marry Sarah Gerth of Quincy.
Blake worked for his family business, Genenbacher Construction. He was a 2010 graduate of Quincy Senior High School where he played both baseball and football.
Blake graduated from John Wood Community College in 2012 with his Associates Degree in Law Enforcement. While at JWCC, he participated in intramural sports. Blake was a member of the Church of St. Peter and also a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he played both softball and sand volleyball. Blake enjoyed cooking and took great pride in his food creations. He also enjoyed deer hunting with his family.
Survivors include his parents, his fiancee, his brothers, Brandon, Blaise and Bryce Genenbacher; his maternal grandmother Sherry Heuer; paternal grandparents, Jim and Elaine Genenbacher and maternal great-grandmother, Ruth Heuer all of Quincy. Aunts and uncles, Jeanna (Lance) Roe of Liberty; Barb (Matt) Holtmeyer; Janice (Mike) Zanger all of Quincy; Tammy (Christopher) Mullen of Waynesville, MO; Scott Heuer of Bowling Green, MO; goddaughter, Paislei Burnett of Hull and many cousins and friends.
Blake was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Fred Heuer; maternal great-grandfather, Gunther Heuer; maternal great-grandparents, Albert and Alta Mettemeyer; and paternal great-grandparents, Elmer and Mildred Genenbacher.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 30, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of St. Peter conducted by Monsignor Leo Enlow. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh. Blake’s family encourages bright colors for his funeral as one of his last wishes. Memorials are suggested to the Blake Genenbacher Benefit Fund through Heartland Bank. Contributions will be used for some of Blake’s favorite things such as Quincy High School Athletics and St. John’s Children’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. www.dukerandhaugh.com

Chris and Tim and family..We are so sorry to hear of your loss.. but what a testimony Blake left behind.. I hear and read so many testimonies of lives he has touched and continues to touch even today. What a trooper he was. Phil and I love you both and are here if need anything. We are so terribly sorry for the loss of your son, grandson, brother, fiance’, nephew & cousin……even though we did not have an opportunity to meet Blake in person, we met him through our daughter, Kali. He was a wonderful friend to Kali and truly inspired her. May you all have peace in knowing that Blake is no longer in pain, and he will be an absolutely wonderful guardian angel for many.

Blake knew me as Jessica RN. I laughed so hard the last night I took care of him!! He is a great guy and will be sadly missed. Im so happy that I had a chance to meet him. He has made me re think which path I wanted to take in my career of nursing. I just wish that I could have made the RN badges that he and his friends wanted… All my thoughts and prayers !!!! No one fights alone!!
