Bill Bence, age 81, of 2506 Sharon Drive, died on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, in Blessing Hospital. He was born on March 12, 1930 in Adams County the son of William & Cleaney Bence. Bill first married Ella Mae Lierly. Bill later married Ardella Welch. She preceded him in death. Mr. Bence was in automotive sales throughout the area. Bill served in the Korean War. He was a member of the Quincy Consistory, Quincy Shrine Club. He was active in the mini-mules and many other Shriner activities. He was also an avid golfer.

He is survived by:
THREE CHILDREN: Joe Bence of Quincy; Tina Peters and her husband Gary of St. Charles, MO and Patty Bence also of St. Charles.
Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives survive.

In addition to his wife Ardella, Bill was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister June Meyer.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 22, 2011 at noon in the South Side Cemetery in Clayton. Military rites to be conducted at the cemetery. There is no visitation but friends are invited to the graveside services. Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
