Betty Nadine Deege
Betty Nadine Deege, age 77, of Bickford Cottage, formerly of Liberty, died on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the Cottage. She was born on October 1, 1933 in Kinderhook, IL, a daughter of Arch & Geneva (Turner) Thompson. She first married Byron Gale Marshall and together they had three children. He preceded her in death. She later married John P. Deege on May 24, 1968 in Macomb, IL, and he preceded her in death on November 14, 2009.
Betty was a member of Kingston United Methodist Church. She was a past chairman of local Easter Seals. She was formerly active with Tri-County Association for Crippled Children, and was a member of Musselman Audubon Society. Betty was a master upholsterer and talented artist, who enjoyed painting and photography. Betty was always physically fit and she was proud of her skills as a drum majorette and baton twirler while in high school. She was a true lover of nature and wildlife.

ONE SON: Bruce Marshall and his wife Tammy of Liberty, IL;
ONE DAUGHTER: Sally Marshall Skirvin and her husband Larry of Barry, IL;
TWO STEP CHILDREN: Jon Michael Deege and his wife Donna of Des Moines, IA, & Diana Deege McClelland and her husband Louis of Quincy;
FIVE GRANDCHILDREN: Josh, Andy (Nikki) Skirvin and Jenna Skirvin, Nicole( Lee) Whitfield and John Marshall;
THREE GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN;
SEVEN STEP-GRANDCHILDREN: Chris and Jon Eric Dougherty, Scott, Abby, & Libby Deege, Shane and Michael McClelland;
TEN STEP GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN and 4 STEP-GREAT-GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN also survive.
ONE BROTHER: Richard Thompson and his wife Mary of Hannibal, MO;
ONE SISTER: Beverly Bareis and her husband John of Saverton, MO. Nieces & nephews also survive.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, and a son, Brad Marshall.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 1, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home by Rev. Lee Reffett. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association, Quincy Humane Society, or Kingston United Methodist Church.
