Betty Jean Grant

Betty Jean Grant, age 75, of 1034 Ohio Street, Quincy, died on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 7:40 a.m. in the Emergency Room at Blessing Hospital. She was born on September 4, 1934 in Liberty, a daughter of Jerry & Sarah Emaline (Dunn) Orr. She married Arthur “Jerry” Grant on April 11, 1953 in St. Boniface Rectory. He survives.

Betty was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
She was a 1952 graduate of West Pike High School. She worked as a time keeper at Brower Manufacturing, she also worked at Motorola, and part-time at Ben Franklin. First and foremost, Betty was a homemaker.

Betty had a specialty of baking pies, turnovers, and giving them away. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling with them.

In addition to her husband, Jerry, survivors include:
TWO SONS: Michael Grant and wife Jane, and Randy Grant and wife Tracy all of Quincy;
SIX GRANDCHILDREN: Todd Grant, Tina Liesen and husband Darrell, Erin Stehl and husband Justin, Brandon Grant and fiancee Courtney Drummond, Chris McCallister, and Hattie Grant;
GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Bria Grant, Braden & Brodie Stehl, Jordyn Liesen, Lauren & Emma Grant, and their mother, Callie;
BROTHER: Russell Orr and wife Carol of Quincy;
SISTER-IN-LAW: Phyllis Orr of Quincy.
Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers & sisters-in-law, Warren Orr and wife Winona, Frank Orr and wife Carlene, Walt Orr and wife Vernelda, and Robert Orr.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 8, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Rev. Don Knuffman and Deacon Terry Ellerman officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with a parish prayer service at 6:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church or the Quincy Notre Dame Cheerleaders.

    Uncle Jerry, Mike & Randy,
    Aunt Betty was a true treasure. Iwas deeply saddened to learn of her passing. She is in the best of hands now and in a better place. I will miss her greatly & will cherish every memory I have of her. God bless you & yours.
