Betty Jean Crabtree

Betty Jean Crabtree, age 87, of Sunset Home, Quincy, formerly of LaGrange, MO went home to meet her Heavenly Father on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 5:30 a.m. She was born on April 14, 1929 in Quincy, a daughter of Rome & Bertie M. (Layman) Dopheide. She married Jesse James Crabtree, Jr. in July 1948 in Quincy.

Ms. Crabtree worked at Davis Cleaver in Quincy as a supervisor for thirty years. She was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church in Quincy.

She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed Sunday morning service, reading the Bible and praising her Lord through gospel music. She stood in honor of God even when she could no longer stand.

She is survived by:
FOUR SONS, Jesse (Frances) Crabtree of Quincy, Gary (Margaret) Crabtree of LaGrange, MO, Wayne (Roxann) Crabtree of Quincy and General Crabtree of LaGrange, MO;
FIVE DAUGHTERS, Deborah (Steve) Whalen of Burlington, IA, Cheryl (Ronnie) Vahle of LaGrange, MO, Charlotte (Dan) Ash of Quincy, Romie (Mike) Knotts of Burlington, IA, and Tina (Brad) Farr of Canton, MO;
DAUGHTER-IN-LAW, Linda Crabtree (wife of the late Rev. John Crabtree) of Springfield;
21 GRANDCHILDREN
35 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN
3 GREAT-GREAT GRANDCHILDREN and
TWO BROTHERS, Richard (Linda) Dopheide of Quincy and Rev. Rodney (Marian) Dopheide of Sacramento, CA;
Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Crabtree was preceded in death by her son, Rev. John Crabtree; three sisters, Bonnie Hively, Edith St.Clair and Sylvia Dopheide; and one brother, Rome Dopheide, Jr., one granddaughter Cheryl Smith and one infant great-grandson, Ricky Michael Kemph.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 26, 2016 at 12:00 noon at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday morning beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Sunset Home Alzheimer’s Unit.
