Betty J. Pienkowski nee Graber

Betty J. Pienkowski nee Graber, of Quincy, formerly of Brookfield, IL died on Sunday, July 15, 2018 in Illinois Veteran’s Home. Betty was born in Chicago, a daughter of Ferdinand “Fred” and Elizabeth (Dillon) Graber.

She married Victor P. Pienkowski on October 5, 1957 and he survives. Betty had worked for Frigidaire, formerly a Division of GM, as did Victor, and this is where the two met. She also worked for many years at Madigan’s, a well-known department store in Chicago. Betty was formerly a very active member of St. Barbara Catholic Church in Brookfield. She had a special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Betty’s work at Madigan’s was perfect for her, because she loved fashion and always dressed to a “T”. She and Victor enjoyed dancing together and did so quite well. Betty enjoyed reading, spoiling Victor (and he her). She had a great sense of humor and was very proud of her Irish heritage.

In addition to her husband, survivors also include many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Charlotte Eichler.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 23, 2018 with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in All Faiths Chapel at the Illinois Veteran’s Home. Interment will be in Sunset Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 10:00 a.m. Monday. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Victor and family of Betty, sending my condolences to you. I was her tall ICU nurse. I have thought about her and prayed for her several times and checked to see she returned to the IVH. Thank you for sharing her with me for a brief time and thank you Victor for sharing some of your stories. Hi Therese, Lynn and rest of nieces.

Aunt Betty had a long full life and I know that she is happy and comfortable with her Blessed Virgin Mary.
