Betty C. Krutmeier age 93, of Payson died on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 in Sunset Home.

Betty was born July 26, 1925 in Quincy, IL the daughter of Emmett and Dorothy (Kuhlman) Bower. She graduated from Hull High School in 1943 and then from Gem City Business College in 1944, after which she began working at Wendt-Sonis in Hannibal, MO.

She met Bob Krutmeier at Scotty’s Roller Rink and they were married March 13, 1945. While Bob was stationed at Pensacola, FL she worked at the U.S. Naval Supply. Betty continued her working career as secretary at Payson Grade School from 1966-1986.

Betty was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church where she served on various committees throughout her life. Betty was Payson PTA president and active in many capacities to promote improved education. She was a lifelong member of the Payson Fan Club, formerly known as the Home Bureau.

She enjoyed leisure activities of reading, golfing and playing tennis with friends, and traveling. All-of the granddaughters have cherished memories of summer break time spent with grandma and grandpa on their farm and shopping trips!

Betty is survived by her husband of 73 years, Robert “Bob” Krutmeier; daughter and son-in-law Carlene and Sidney Kemmis of Geneseo, IL and daughter-in-law Sue Maple and her husband Paul of Payson.
Six granddaughters, Danika (Cary) Eades of Normal, IL; Kirstin (Rob) Griffith of Libertyville, IL; Tanya (Todd) Vincent of Stockton, IL; Sonja (Jeff) Causemaker of Libertyville, IL; Julie (John) Danker of Bolingbrook, IL and Lisa Krutmeier of Chicago, IL. 19 Great-Grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Norma Jean, brother Richard and son Rodney Lee.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anthony Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Memorials are suggested to Blessing Foundation for Hospice or to St. Anthony Church.
