Betty Ann Sipek
Betty Ann Sipek, age 90, formerly of 1611 Jackson in Quincy, died on Saturday, January 10, 2015 in Pittsfield. Betty was born on August 18, 1924 in Quincy, the daughter of August and Bertha (Loher) Schmidt. She was a 1944 graduate of the Illinois School for the Deaf. She married Richard F. Sipek on October 4, 1947 in St. Mary Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on July 17, 2005. Betty worked for the Quincy Paper Box Company for many years. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church. Betty was also a member of the Illinois School for the Deaf Alumni Assocation and the Quincy Deaf Club.
She is survivied by:
TWO DAUGHTERS: Janice K. Birchall and her husband James A. of Jacksonville; and Nancy A. Harper and her husband John, Sr. of Murrayville, IL
EIGHT GRANDCHILDREN: Julie Ann Varner and her husband Eric; Nancy K. Sons; Jean K. Wooten and her husband Garrett; Brian C. Sipek and his wife Brooke; Jill K. Birchall and her significant other Clint Dickinson; John R. Harper, Jr. and his wife Fara; Dana L Sipek and her significant other Bren Stern; and Jeffrey R. Harper and his significant other Kasey Hall.
12 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN along with numberous nephews. She is also survived by a sister-in-law Jacqueline Schmidt.
In addition to her husband, Betty was also preceded in death by her parents, a son Ronald J. Sipek, a great-granddaughter, and six siblings: Floyd and Virgil Schmidt in infancy, Merle, Bob, and Donald Schmidt, and Shirley Kuse.
Funeral servies will be held on Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 at the church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery on Wednesday. Memorial may by made to the Illinois School for the Deaf Alumni Assocation, the Liberty Village of Pittsfield or the Blessing Foundation for Hospice. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

My heartfelt sympathy go to all the Sipek/Birchall/Harper families on the loss. It was a pleasure over the years of my knowing Betty Ann as a great person. She is now a free spirit leaving fond memories for all of us to cherish.
