Betty Ann Fischer

Betty Ann Fischer age 97, of Quincy died on Monday, March 2, 2020 at Adams Pointe, Quincy. Betty was born in Council Bluffs, IA on September 18, 1922 a daughter of John and Genevieve (Maxfield) Slater. She married William “Bill” Fischer in September 21, 1940 in Louisiana, MO, he preceded her in death on March 15, 2000.

Betty was a homemaker. She also worked full time at Moorman Manufacturing until her retirement.

She was a member of the Church of St. Peter where she also helped serve breakfast at St. Peter’s after Sunday masses. Betty liked playing cards and was part of a ladies Pinochle group for many years. She was a big part of her children’s and grandchildren’s lives, traveling to be with them whenever she could.

Survivors include her children, son, Bill (Angela) Fischer of St. Louis, MO; daughters, Peggy (Jim) Grant of Quincy; Kim (Sam) Rinella of Grayslake, IL; a daughter-in-law, Carol Fischer of St. Charles, MO.
A sister, Clara Bauer of Maryland Heights, MO; eleven grandchildren Debbie (Eric) Teson; Steve (Anne) Fischer; Angela (Bob) Wellman; Eric Fischer; Erin (Steve) Wheeldon; Matthew Fischer; Holly Marinacci; Keith (Lisa) Grant; Samantha (Marty) Haugen; Frank Rinella and MacKenzie Rinella. 17 Great-Grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her step mother Lola; her husband, a son John Fischer, brothers, Bob, Darrel, Paul, Edward, Leo, Roger, Arvin and Jack at birth; sisters, Jean, Bernadine, Mary Katherine; Helen and baby Genevieve.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in the Church of St. Peter. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh. Memorials are suggested to the Activities Fund at Adams Pointe or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

    I am So sorry to hear that Betty passed. I have find memories of the Fischer parties when I was little. Betty was a very dear friend to my mother, Dolores “Sis” Warren. Just a very lovely lady.

    Grandma will always have a special place in my heart. Such fond memories during my teenage years. I think Debbie and I gave her a few wrinkles. Thinking of the Fischer Family❤️

    I am saddened to hear about Betty’s passing. I missed seeing her at Church after John’s passing. I just got out of hospital and won’t be attending funeral. All of you are in my heart and prayers.
