Beatrice ‘Betty’ Waterman

Beatrice Ann ‘Betty’ Waterman, age 92, of the Good Samaritan Home, formerly of 3116 Rutledge Place, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, April 20, 2018 in the Good Samaritan Home. She was born on October 1, 1925 in Pittsfield, IL the daughter of Eugene & Mary Eve (Klatt) Ohnemus. Betty first married Don LaVerne King. He preceded her in death on August 1, 1959. She later married William Waterman. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2012.

Betty was a member of the Church of St. Peter. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and the Eagles Auxiliary. She enjoyed Bingo, swimming with her sisters, and bowling with special friends. Her greatest enjoyment was the time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

She is survived by:
FOUR CHILDREN: Pamela (Steve) Blacketer; Jane (Richard) Stout; Donna (Jim) Zellerman; and Debbie (Terry) Hickey all of Quincy.
A DAUGHTER IN LAW: Beth King of Tulsa, OK
TWO STEP-DAUGHTERS: Diane (Jon) Dabney and Sue Schreacke both of Quincy.
TWELVE GRANDCHILDREN: Jim (Katie) King and Michael (Ryan Farrell) King; Amy (Rusty) Putzler; Lindsey Irving; Morgan Irving; Erin (Evan) Fischer; Brian Jansen; Kevin (Teresa) Hickey; Brian (Linda) Schreacke; Shawn (Kelly) Schreacke, Melissa (Rex) Anderson and Cindy (Ken) Barner.
THREE BROTHERS: Roman (Ginny) Ohnemus; Gerald (Doris) Ohnemus and Dale (Sandy) Ohnemus.
TWO SISTERS: Patricia (Charles) Meado and Rosemary Reichert.
Numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

In addition to both of her husbands, Betty was also preceded in death by her parents, 1 son Dennis King, 1 grandson Adam King, a step-son-in-law: Dale Schreacke; a brother: Daniel Ohnemus along with his wife Norma and a brother-in-law: Don Reichert.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 9:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 AM in the Church of St. Peter. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Church of St. Peter, the Quincy Humane Society, or to Camp Callahan. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    Grandma, words cannot express how much you meant to me. All of your grandchildren love to the moon and back and we will cherish every memory, moment and all the lifetime lessons you taught us over the years. I love you!

    Many happy memories spending time at Betty’s house. An a summer trip to Bagnell Dam with Pat, Donette and Debbie. Rest in Peace my friend.
