Barbara Sue Doellman
Barbara Sue Doellman, age 72, of Quincy, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 15, 2016. She was born on December 16, 1943 in Quincy, the daughter of Melvin and Mildred (Padelford) Waldhaus. She married Bernard W. Doellman on November 24, 1964 at St. John’s Catholic Church. They were married for 35 years.
Barb graduated from Quincy High School and Quincy Beauty Academy. She was a beautician at Key Beauty Salon and later owned her own shop in her home. This enabled her to dedicate much of her time volunteering for Birthright of Quincy, and St. John the Baptist parish, where she was a member for many years. She also was a leader at Weight Watchers. In 1993, Barb began working for Quincy Medical Group as a receptionist in the orthopedic department. She retired in 2009 to become a devoted and cherished grandma.
She was of the Catholic Faith and had an unwavering love for Christ and developed her relationship with Him through study of The Word and Scripture. She devoted her entire life in stewardship to others and was a model of God’s love. Barb found joy in everything and had an unforgettable smile that would light up the world.
She treasured the beauty of her flower gardens, planning all winter for spring plantings and blooms. Barb was an avid baker, especially her amazing sugar cookies and candies during the holidays that she loved to share with all. Other pastimes were crocheting, knitting and more recently stained glass work. She shared her love for watching old musicals and movies with her family. Her children and grandchildren were her world. She looked forward to spending as much time as possible with them.
Barb will joyfully be remembered by her children Stacy Davis, Lisa (James) Curran, Heather (David) Mason, and Lindsay (Jared) Allensworth, all of Quincy.
Barb was the proud grandmother to Christopher Davis, Sean, Ryan and Evan Curran, Delaney Mason, Jace, Lakin, Jaxton, and Jett Allensworth. She was a loving great-grandma to Hunter, Logan and Riley Davis.
Barb is survived by her brother Frank Waldhaus and sister Patricia Dieker, both of Quincy along with numerous nieces, nephews and relatives.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Richard Waldhaus, Charles Waldhaus, Bonnie Marchio and Darla Waldhaus in infancy.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 21, 2016 at 10:00 Am in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:30 AM in the Church of St. Peter. Interment in Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 until 6:00 PM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Birthright of Quincy.

I remember Aunt Barb taking the cousins swimming and collecting lots of attention from the young men. She was a hot item in a teeny weeny bikini. A wonderful lady.
So sorry to hear of Barb’s passing. We went to beauty school together.
