Barbara L. Voshake, age 90, of the Sunset Home, formerly of 4311 Bishop, Quincy, died on Saturday, September 7, 2013 in the home. She was born on August 20, 1923 in Madison, MO, a daughter of James W. & Phyllis (Heaton) Peer. She married Edwin H. Voshake on August 30, 1944 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on January 25, 2000.

Mrs. Voshake was an RN, a graduate of St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing During her career she worked in New York, NY, Livington, MT, Santa Cruz, CA and locally at St. Mary’s Hospital in Quincy. She attended St. Francis Catholic Church and was a former long-time member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Barbara was a birder and a gardener. She also was a member of the YMCA Senior Swim Team.

She is survived by:
THREE SONS: Michael E. Voshake and his wife Sandy of Columbus, IN; Frederick N. Voshake and his wife Linda of Quincy and Daniel M. Voshake and his wife Renee of Fresno, CA
EIGHT GRANDCHILDREN: Jennifer Voshake, Jill Paulemanos and her husband Alex; Mark Voshake and his wife Kimberly; Sheridan Voshake, Jacob Voshake and his fiancee Andrea Schulte, Martinique Voshake, Carliene O’Conner and her husband Sean and Daniel Voshake.

Nieces, nephews and other relatives survive.

In addition to her husband, Barbara was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Sharon Voshake, sisters: Marian Bruner and Geraldine Barry and a brother James Peer, Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 10:30 AM in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. There is no visitation but friends are invited to the funeral mass. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Hospital Foundation for Hospice. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
