Barbara “Jean” Smith, age 73, of Quincy, died on Sunday, February 11, 2018 in her home. She was born on February 12, 1944 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, the daughter of William G. and Frieda “June” (McClelland) Harmon. Jean married Gerald Anthony Smith on September 17, 1964 in St. Brigid Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on December 13, 1981.

Jean graduated from Quincy High School. She retired from Blessing Hospital where she worked as a Unit Secretary.

She was of the Catholic faith.

Jean was a loving and unconditional grandmother to all of her grandchildren. She was a fashionista and had an amazing green thumb. Her dog, Rudy was her love.

Jean is survived by her mother and best friend, June Harmon of Quincy; her children: Tina M. Smith Kennedy of Quincy, and Christopher A. Smith of West Lake Village, CA; her siblings: Larry (Betty) Harmon of San Antonio, TX; Peggy A. Harmon Wiewel of Payson, IL; Gary (Diane) Harmon of Houston, TX; grandchildren: Christina (Diaz) Harbison, Jennifer Diaz, Audrey Ohnemus and Paige Bowman; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her dad and her husband.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Private family burial services are planned.
Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation and the National Fibromyalgia Association.
