Barbara Jean Sheehan

Barbara Jean Sheehan, age 86, of Quincy, died on Thursday, April 1, 2021 in Blessing Hospital. She was born on May 5, 1934 in Quincy, the daughter of Henry and Rose (Nash) Forbes.

Barb was a healthcare aide at Blessing Hospital, area nursing homes and in private homes for numerous years.

Barb was a dedicated member of Alcoholics Anonymous for over 42 years. She attended multiple meetings each week & touched many, many lives as a sponsor. Helping others through AA was a priority in her life.

Barb enjoyed family gatherings, yard sales, gardening, decorating, road trips, caring for pets, being outdoors and staying busy. She enjoyed all forms of shopping, especially thrift stores. She loved her family immensely. She never met a stranger and loved giving hugs.

She is survived by:
FOUR CHILDREN: Roy Powell of Springfield, IL; Melvin Powell of Quincy; Dale Sheehan (Tammy) of Mendon, IL and Tom Sheehan (Launa) of Quincy.
A SON-IN-LAW: Jim Evans.
Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives also survive.

Barbara was preceded in death by: a son Jay Powell, a daughter Marsha Evans and a daughter-in-law: Pauline Powell.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 noon at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Graveside services at Greenmount Cemetery will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Alcoholics Anonymous. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
