Barbara J. Sohn, age 71, of 1514 Quick Ave., Quincy, died on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 11:10 a.m. in Blessing Hospital Emergency Room. She was born on August 11, 1944 in Quincy, a daughter of Wilbur & Ruth (Welsh) Thien. She married Roger Sohn on October 17, 1975 in Quincy. He survives.

Barbara devoted her life to being a homemaker, she also had her own daycare for many years.

She was a member of the Church of St. Peter.

Barb not only enjoyed collecting and reading cookbooks, but also cooking and baking pies. She loved children and became like an adopted mother to those she took care of. Barb was caring and compassionate for both people and animals.

In addition to her husband, Roger, she is survived by her mother-in-law, Mary M. Sohn of Quincy; two sisters, Jan (Terry) Lovelace and Susan (Michael) Porter, all of Quincy; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe (Judy) Sohn, Ed (Barb) Sohn, Doris (Marty) Karhoff, Mary Lou (David) Elsie, Tony (Connie) Sohn, Steven (Donna) Sohn, Alice Waelder, Jane (Robert) Brown, Kate (Kevin) Specht and Marge (Steve) Hilgenbrink. Many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Rebecca Sohn; her father-in-law, Emil Sohn, and a brother-in-law, Tom Sohn.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 in the Church of St. Peter by Rev. Tom Donovan. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Church or to the Lupus Foundation.
