Barbara J. Dance

Barbara J. Dance, age 77, of Quincy, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, December 15, 2023.

Barbara was born on August 20, 1946, in Quincy, the daughter of Robert and Marriane (Goodapple) Kroner. She married William D. Dance on September 19, 1970, at St. Boniface Catholic Church. William preceded her in death on December 25, 1982.

Barbara is a 1964 graduate of Notre Dame High School. A devoted mother of three, she worked at St. Mary’s Hospital, operated an in-home daycare and worked at Hearing Healthcare, while raising her children. She retired in 2017. In retirement, she enjoyed following each of her grandchildren’s numerous academic and athletic activities. Using various streaming services from her iPad she never missed an opportunity to watch the QHS band and QHS Girls Basketball, QND baseball and QND basketball. She always offered her support during visits, text messages and phone calls. She also enjoyed playing board games, watching Hallmark Christmas movies and Fox News. She was a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where she enjoyed participating in the choir and bible study activities. Never caught off guard, her quick wit and sense of humor will be remembered fondly by all she encountered. Her strong will and determination were inspiring.

Survivors include two sons, Brian Dance and Brad (Tracey) Dance; and one daughter, Brandy (Nathan) Frese; four grandchildren, Caden, Tyler, Alex and Katelyn Dance; and six siblings, Judy Willer, Nancy Kroner, Mary Ellen Piner, Mark Kroner, Alan Kroner and Roger Kroner.

In addition to her husband, Barbara was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Daniel “Boone” Kroner and Jerome Kroner.

A special thanks to the many wonderful nurses and therapists who assisted Barbara in recent years – especially those who provided outstanding care in Blessing Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church at 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 21st. Per Barbara’s wishes, there will not be a visitation but friends of the family are welcome to attend the service. Burial will follow in Quincy Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, the QND Boys Basketball Program and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Brian, Brad, and Brandy–I am SO SORRY to hear of your mom’s passing. I can vividly remember the many times we quietly chatted at QND events. She was SO PROUD of all of you, and loved you so very much. The sacrifices she made for all of you truly reflected that she was a true “Angel on Earth.” She was a wonderful, wonderful, person. I will pray that God gives you the strength you need in the days ahead and that HE will fill your souls with all the great memories that you created, and shared, with your mother. God Bless.
