Barbara A. Nixon

Barbara A. Nixon, age 81, of Quincy, died on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 in her home. She was born on October 23, 1939 in LaGrange, MO, the daughter of George Milton & Mildred (Bell) Weathers. She married Delano ‘Frank’ Nixon on April 16, 1960. He survives. Mrs. Nixon worked for many years at Motorola and then the Quincy Paper Box Company. She later owned and operated her own day-care until her retirement due to ill health. She was a member of Union Baptist Church. In her younger years Barbara enjoyed softball and was an avid bowler. She also loved to dance and listen to R&B and Gospel music.

In addition to her husband Frank, Barbara is also survived by:
TWO CHILDREN: Craig Nixon of Quincy and Jason Nixon (Stephanie) of Vancouver, WA.
SIBLINGS: Merle Weathers, Tommie Weathers, Donna Evans, Pattie Williams and Gary Weathers.
Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Barbara was preceded in death by a daughter: Rechelle Collins and siblings: George Milton Weathers, Jr., Delmar Weathers, William Weathers and Norman Weathers.

Private family services will be held. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Sunset Cemetery.

    I want to sent my heart felt love to the family of Mrs. Barb. She was a great woman, a great role model and as loving as one could get. I sit here and think about growing up next door to her and her bits of wisdom she would give. It was a blessing to know her.
