Annalee Fuqua

Annalee Fuqua age 79, of Liberty, Il passed away on Monday, December 12, 2022 in Blessing Hospital. She was born in Quincy on November 11, 1943, a daughter of Gerald and Gloria (McKee) Steinway.

Annie as she was known, married her husband of 41 years, Richard Fuqua on January 29, 1981. He survives.

Also surviving are her children, JoAnn Liesen and Michelle Francis Roberts both of Quincy; Christine Marie Liesen of Poplar Bluff, MO; Gary Lee Liesen and wife Tori of Payson, IL; Ricky Allen Liesen and soulmate Demariss Burns; Jennifer Renee Fuqua and wife Ashley Fuqua. A bonus son, Patrick Hathcock, and wife Mindy.
Grandchildren: Nicole Murphy, Michael Roberts, Cherie Buxton, Caitlin Buxton, Dustin Gray, Tyler Gray, Tomas Milian and Austyn Collins. 11 Great Grandchildren, niece Jessica Frericks and many other nieces and nephews also survive.

Annie graduated from John Wood Community College’s Nurses Assistant program on July 25, 1980. She was employed as a nurse’s assistant for many years in various local nursing homes retiring in 2007.

She had a deep passion for animals. She rescued many dogs, cats, even her beloved donkey “Odie” who she raised for over 35 years. Annie had cared for all kinds of animals, from her chickens to even a couple of minks. He other passion was nature, she loved nature and all of God’s creation. One of her favorite things to do was ride horses in the canyons of Preston, Idaho with her soul-sister Patty Griffin. Between horses and wine, they always had adventures together.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents, great-grandparents, including Blanche McKee. Sisters, Maralee “Dodie” Frericks and Patricia Ann Griffin; a son, Michael Gerald Liesen and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Cremation rites will be accorded. There are no services scheduled at this time. If you would like to give a memorial in honor of Annie, please consider giving to the Quincy Humane Society or the Hannibal, MO Humane Society.     To the most amazing woman in the world. A heart bigger then the universe and a compassion for all living things like no other. Rest in paradise mom, i can only hope that i see my best buddy again someday. Until then just keep being the amazing person that made you who you are.
