Anna V. Kamphaus, age 91, of Quincy, died on December 31, 2020 in her home. She was born on June 15, 1929 in Quincy, the daughter of William LaForce and Gertrude (Dopheide) Carson. Anna married Roger J. Kamphaus, on October 14, 1950 in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Quincy. The couple celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary last year.

Anna was a 1949 graduate of Quincy Notre Dame. She wore many hats, and loved being a caregiver for the elderly.

She was a member of the Quincy Deanery Council of Catholic Women having served as President and other positions, also a member at the state and national levels. She was honored to have been named as “A Woman of Distinction” by the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. Additional memberships include the Legion of Mary, and was co-founder of the Junior Legion of Mary for high school students, Ladies of Charity. She was an avid quilter for the “Blanket Project” making quilts for the homeless. Anna was also member of Adams County Home Extension, Sunshine Girls. She was a leader and founder of the Girl Scout Troop #149 at the former St. John the Baptist Grade School where she pioneered the first cadet troop to go winter camping in a snowstorm.

Her life revolved around her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their activities. She was known for her welcoming nature and the way she treated everyone as if they had always been a part of her family.

Anna was a quilter, a painter and longtime League bowler.

Anna is survived by her husband Roger, children: Debra (Steve) Kamphaus of Hannibal, MO, Cheryl (Steve) Blentlinger of Ursa, Linda (Roger) Atkinson, Chesterfield, MO, Bruce (Sarah) Kamphaus of Quincy, Daniel (Toni) Kamphaus of Fowler, Greg (Ann) Kamphaus of Quincy and Roger E. (Maureen) Kamphaus.

Grandchildren: Jennifer, Catherine, Kristen, Michael, Heather, Ryan, Bryan, Andrew, Caleb, Lucas, Amy and Joseph; Great grandchildren: Ross, Tatiana, Elliana, Viviana, Darren, Tucker, Hunter, Journey, Kaden, Tom, Tim, Emily, Annabelle, Stevie and Delaina; sisters-in-law: Marleena Carson of FL, Ann Carson of IN, Barb Frericks, Virginia Kamphaus and Berniece Peters all of Quincy; several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers, George, Melvin and Donald Carson and a son-in-law, Steve Ballard.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. All those attending the services are kindly asked to wear a face mask and observe social distancing guidelines. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Memorials are suggested to EWTN or donor’s choice.
